Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

We do not have a central shelter to visit. All of our dogs are kept in foster homes across South Australia. The location of each animal is listed in their ad, and we typically arrange for you to meet them in their foster home.

I want to adopt a certain breed, how can I find one?

As a rescue, what comes in varies all the time, so we can never predict what breeds will be available. We recommend regularly checking our website and Facebook page for new listings. Our available dogs change frequently, and we often receive a mix of breeds and mixed breeds.

Do you have waitlists for certain types of dogs?

As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we don't have the resources to maintain waitlists for specific breeds.

How do I apply to adopt a dog?

To apply for one of our dogs, click the "Apply for [Dog Name] on SavourLife® Adopt a Dog" button in their ad. This will take you to the SavourLife Adopt a Dog website, where you must complete your application. Adoption of our animals through SavourLife entitles you to a free bag of SavourLife premium dog food and access to dog training materia

I've applied to adopt an animal, now what happens?

You will receive an email with a copy of your application. Our team aims to process applications within 72 hours. If you do not hear back within this time or need to make any revisions, please reply directly to the email. This ensures your message reaches the team handling the animal you're interested in.

Why was my family not chosen?

We carefully match dogs with families based on various factors including lifestyle, living situation, and the specific needs of each dog. If you weren't selected, it doesn't mean you wouldn't make great pet parents. We encourage you to continue looking as new dogs become available regularly.
